Keeping up with Chamber MusiC
ChamberMusic, a family band from Kansas City, Mo., has been performing since 1999 in nursing homes, schools and festivals. All five Chambers' children played in the beginning, with Mom/Maribeth learning bass from the kids. Now, in our 15th year performing, Dominic, Sophie and John have crafted their sound, a mix of bluegrass and newgrass, of classical and traditional.
We began with old-time bluegrass -- Millionaire's Hoedown, Old Joe Clark and Orange Blossom Special. We played the family stage at Winfield, and played the Missouri State Fair Touchstone Energy Stage in Sedalia in the early days, as the kids competed in the fiddle and guitar competitions. ChamberMusic took No. 1 spot in the Clay County Has Talent Fest in 2011, won the New Musician Showcase in Liberty, MO, in 2008. We've played a side stage at Starlight Theater in Kansas City when "Laura" from Little House came to Kansas City. We've traveled to Phoenix and Montgomery to play shows at senior centers. We were honored to be one of 20 bands nationwide invited to compete in the Youth in Bluegrass at Silver Dollar City 2013, 2014 and 2015, and one of 10 bands nationwide selected to play the youth stage at IBMA, Raleigh, NC.
This summer, we will be taking the stage again for a few days of bluegrass at Silver Dollar City shows.
Music touches all, in a variety of ways. Blessings abound when you see someone relate to what you've played or written and performed. We are so blessed to be able to share talents given on this journey!
We've produced a short play CD with our newest music, with American Summer, written by Sophie and Dominic Chambers. We'd love to perform for your festival, party or special event. Check out our sound, contact us! Sign up to the mailing list for updates.
